SALEM, OR-Two Japanese companies are apparently negotiating for the development of manufacturing facilities in the region in 2002, one in Portland and another in Salem. Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber, back this week from a trade mission to Asia, says he can ‘t reveal any details other than one would manufacture sports equipment in the Portland area and the other wants to produce printer components in Salem.
It’s that kind of ongoing interest in the market that, as reported in GlobeSt.com a few months ago, has San Francisco-based Catellus and developing 180,000-sf of speculative industrial space at Southshore Corporate Park on the Northeastern edge of Portland’s city limits.
