The building is expected to be completed in May 2003. It will be named Croul Hall, in honor of Santa Ana business leader John Croul.

Croul donated $6 million toward the cost of the building. University officials say the gift is the largest ever made to the School of Physical Science, which oversees the Earth System Science department.

The new center will provide space and technical equipment for students, faculty and other researchers to study a range of issues involving the Earth, other planets and the atmosphere.
