According to a new report by Ernst & Young Hospitality Group, occupancy levels in Anaheim have fallen to a paltry 42%. That's roughly a 50% decrease from last year's occupancy rates for the week ended September 22.

The accounting and consulting firm says that Anaheim, which is known for both its tourist and convention industry, has not seen such low occupancy levels in nearly a decade.

Los Angeles' occupancy levels also dropped, according to E&Y. Rates in LA fell by about one-third from a year ago, to 53%, the report says.

Industry experts predict that hotel occupancy rates statewide will rebound in the weeks ahead, as most upcoming conferences and conventions are still on schedule to take place.
