In addition, the mixed-use community will also include 7,000 sf of retail space, a business center with computers, faxes and high-speed internet access, a 1-acre park, resort-style pool, fitness center, recreation room and secured parking.
Cahill Park is being developed by AvalonBay Communities and has been designed by San Jose-based Steinberg Group, featuring four distinct architectural styles. Each style was created to reflect the community's adjacent properties.
The town homes are designed similarly to the existing single-family homes across the street. The lofts on the opposite side of the community resemble an adjacent warehouse with corrugated steel siding and brick exteriors. Additional themes and styles have been incorporated to blend the unique look and feel of the area into the new community.
Cahill Park is a pedestrian and transit-oriented community that is close to many forms of public transportation, including Caltrain, VTA Rail Light and a local bus service. The community is within walking distance of major employers, including Adobe and Cisco.
The developers say they strived to create a neighborhood community in which tenants would have easy access to a fitness center, coffee shop, deli, and dry cleaner. An AvalonBay representative says that although the leases have been negotiated for the retail shops, he cannot release the names at this time, nor cost of development.
Rents for the apartments will range from $1,750 to $2,750.
Cahill Park has begun leasing and will open its first 18 apartments in October, with 10 more following in November and the remaining apartments will be available in January.
