The purchase would create a linear park system through the city, says City Manager JohnSzerlag.
Bond money would be used to purchase the parcel through a negotiated purchase agreement.
The church wants to sell the property because it has been ruled as a wetlands, and is unsuitable for any type of building or construction. The city council may make its decision at the next public meeting this month.
