Trendwest Names New GM of MountainStar Resort

REDMOND, WA-An old hand at handling master-planned communities, former Weyerhaeuser manager Jim Nyberg now heads development of the 7,400-acre MountainStar year-round resort located an hour east of Seattle near Roslyn, WA.

REDMOND, WA-On the heels settling a development dispute with a local citizens’ group, Trendwest Resorts Inc. has appointed a new vice president and general manager for MountainStar, its master-planned resort near Roslyn, WA. The Redmond-based company says Jim Nyberg will take the reins of the 7,400-acre project, which is to include two 18-hole golf courses, a hotel with conference facilities and 3,785 residential units.

Nyberg’s experience in developing master-planned projects for Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Co., will come especially handy in overseeing MountainStar. Two communities Nyberg headed up for the timber giant, Snoqualmie Ridge and Northwest Landing, both faced opposition — with Weyerhaeuser ultimately settling the disputes and moving forward with development.

Trendwest and the citizens’ group RIDGE announced last month they had settled their differences. Though Trendwest had prevailed in most of the rift’s court proceedings, it agreed to lower the number of residential units from 4,650 to 3,785 and increase open space in the resort and urban area by an additional 550 acres.
