Workshop to Focus on Renewing Gateway Regional Center

PORTLAND, OR-Advisory committee formed to work with city officials to come up with new standards for urban renewal within the area, which has more commercial than residential property.

PORTLAND, OR-Government officials will hold a public workshop Saturday to discuss design and development standards for urban renewal at the Gateway Regional Center area.

Sponsored by Portland Development Corp. and the Bureau of Planning, the workshop will be held from 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Woodland Park Hospital Auditorium, 10300 NE Hancock St. The purpose of the workshop will be to evaluate and change standards, guidelines and zone designations within the area.

Approved by the City Council in June 2001, an advisory committee was formed to develop a vision for the area’s renewal plan. That committee consists of more than 30 citizens, property owners, business and neighborhood representatives who are working with city staff to come up with these standards. This is the second of two workshops open to the public.
