DEARBORN, MI-Some of Henry Ford Museum’s most environmentally sensitive and preciouscollections — including the vast correspondence files of Henry Ford himself, the thousands of boxes of papers recording the first 50 years of Ford Motor Co., 10,000 clothing items, 4,000 textiles and rugs and 8,300 toys — are getting a new home. Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village is currently constructing the Benson Ford Research Center, a 66,000-sf, $17-million facility designed to house the museum’s reading room, changing gallery space, environmentallycontrolled shelving areas and offices for curators, catalogers, and reference staff.

The center is scheduled to open in March 2002.

“The new research center will enhance our ability to serve the needs of enthusiasts and researchers around the world,” says Steven K. Hamp, president of Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village.
