Target is one of the first stores to open in the complex, with Old Navy slated to open next month and other shops scheduled to open before the end of the year. A December 15th grand opening is planned for the retail center, which is anchored by Target, Albertson's, Linens N Things and Ross. Other tenants include Barnes & Nobles, Pier 1 Imports, Famous Footwear, Hallmark and Starbucks.
The shopping complex will encompass 417,159 sf upon completion. It is located at the intersection of Malvern Avenue and Gilbert Street, which formerly served as the Hughes campus. The center's owner is developer Regency Centers, which owns 266 retail properties across the United States.
"Regency is extremely active on the development front throughout the Southern California market, pursuing grocery-anchored shopping centers and power centers in areas of strong growth and demand," says Tom McDonough, Regency's senior vice president of investments for the Southern California region.
