The British Home Community, located on 10 acres near the Brookfield Zoo and founded in 1920, is a nonprofit retirement, rehabilitation and nursing community under the auspices of the Daughters of the British Empire.
In keeping with the trend for seniors housing, the community offers a range of care options, encompassing independent living in the Wye Valley Apartments, a sheltered care residence and a health care/rehabilitation facility.
The architect for the new project is Environ Inc. with Novak Construction as the general contractor. The center is scheduled to open in the fall of 2002.
