73 Units of Assisted Living Break Ground in Chicago Suburb

BROOKFIELD, IL-British Home Community plans one-and two-bedroom apartments on its 10-acre facility. A fall 2002 opening is planned.

BROOKFIELD, IL-Work is under way on a new 73-unit assisted-living Center at the British Home Community in west suburban Brookfield. The facility will offer studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments to seniors. The concept, well-established in the senior residential market, offers some assistance to seniors in their living arrangements–building and yard maintenance, for instance–but doesn’t offer nursing care.

The British Home Community, located on 10 acres near the Brookfield Zoo and founded in 1920, is a nonprofit retirement, rehabilitation and nursing community under the auspices of the Daughters of the British Empire.
