Investigators are looking for clues that may show the fire was purposely set, sources assisting the investigation tell GlobeSt.com on condition of anonymity.
Damages are still being assessed but sources tell GlobeSt.com the number will be at least $100,000. GlobeSt.com couldn't learn how much insurance covered the property.
The successful and popular neighborhood store was located at the 100,000-sf Plaza Gigante. Ikiz Auni, the shopping center's owner, was reported to be on a business trip in Turkey at the time of the fire.
The store is owned by Joe Francisco Roman, formerly of Puerto Rico. Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. of Jacksonville operated the store prior to Roman's ownership, according to information obtained by the fire department.
