A small legal notice that GlobeSt.com found in the Rocky Mountain News is the telling factor. The state apparently is seeking a "request for qualifications" for a project manager to steer $12 million to $15 million in renovations at the Community Colleges of Colorado Lowry campus on the former Lowry Air Force Base in east Denver.
The job isn't going to be doled out to a novice. Experience must include a higher education degree or handling other state projects of similar scope and complexity. Applicants also must be experienced with the State Buildings Division/Government Program projects; able to develop a comprehensive project budget; ability to review schematic design development documents, plans and phase projects, monitor all aspects of architectural and construction work; and must be willing to work as an extension of the owner.
The successful company will need to provide a history to show it is capable of managing such projects and demonstrate the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget. It also must be able to work with administrators, faculty, architects, consultants and contractors.
Finally, applicants must have to have maintained a Colorado office for at least four years and completed or currently be managing at least two projects of more than $12 million within the last five years from that Colorado office. The application deadline is 2 pm Oct. 22.
