The three-story, 166,000-sf building is a mirror image of the first building in the campus, which opened in 1998. First Data, which owns Western Union, has grown so fast that officials accelerated the construction of the second building, which opens in the second quarter 2002. "Our decision to move up our Meridian expansion is a strong indicator that First Data is continuing to grow its business and presence in Colorado," an official said.

Denver Technological Center, Meridian's owner, is developing the building that eventually will be owned by First Data. Michael Barber Architecture of Denver designed the building. The Weitz Co. is the general contractor. Myron Cave and Rudy Sabec of First Commercial Brokerage Inc. represented First Data in the land purchase.
