Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, the LEED program (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) was created to provide a definitive standard for what constitutes a "green building." This standard is achieved by bringing together industry leaders to define the environmental performance of a whole building, over its life cycle. To become accredited, members must pass the LEED Professional Accreditation Exam.

As a national member of U.S. Green Building Council, McCarthy will assist in implementing the LEED Green Building Rating System, promoting buildings that are environmentally responsible, and that are healthy places to live and work in the Northwest. "This accreditation is a testament to the company's level of dedication and commitment to environmentally sound building practices," said Pete Balzola, business development director for McCarthy.
