Northwest McCarthy Employee Gets Green Certified

PORTLAND-The Oregon general contractor says it is the first to have LEED Accredited Professional on staff. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED stands for Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design.

PORTLAND-The Northwest division of McCarthy Building Companies Inc. says it has become the first general contractor in the state of Oregon to have a LEED Accredited Professional on staff.

Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, the LEED program (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) was created to provide a definitive standard for what constitutes a “green building.” This standard is achieved by bringing together industry leaders to define the environmental performance of a whole building, over its life cycle. To become accredited, members must pass the LEED Professional Accreditation Exam.
