Among the properties that the Minneapolis-based hotel chain opened are a Country Inns & Suites in Deutsch Wagram (Vienna), Austria, as well as new hotels opened in Pella, IA, Menomonee, WI., and Lansing, MI. That makes 36 new hotels and 24 licensed agreements so far this year.

Overall, Country Inns & Suites has grown 19% in systemwide sales so far this year over last year. The new hotels added in the second quarter total 989 rooms, and bring the chain's total to 280. The chain is on track to open its 300th hotel by the end of this year, according to Paul Kirwin, president of Country Inns & Suites.

Country Inns & Suites, which feature traditional architecture and "sophisticated interiors," is a part of Carlson Hospitality Worldwide, which also owns the Radisson chain and others.
