Sport Chalet Signs $12-Mil Lease

ONTARIO, CA-Investment Development Services has leased the final 326,000 sf of industrial space in the first phase at the Haven Gateway Centre here to a sporting goods chain for nearly $12 million, clearing the way for the LA-based builder to begin the final phase of the $55-million project.

The new lease is with Sport Chalet, one of the largest sporting goods chains based in Southern California. The 10-year pact will allow the company to move into the building at 2250 S. Sequoia Ave. at the end of this year, after tenant-improvements are completed.

Sport Chalet, which started with just a single store in La Canada in 1959, now operates 26 outlets across the Southland. About 125 people will work at its new Ontario distribution center.
