One of two new nominees, Dennis L. Derby is a real estate developer and builder. If confirmed, he would represent the Metro area. He is owner and president of Portland-based Double D Development Inc. and is a past president of the Home Builders Association of Metro Portland. He is a member of the Business Advisory Committee for Metro's 2040 Plan and past chairman of the Portland Street of Dream.
If confirmed, Nancy E. Leonard, the other new nominee, would represent the Oregon coast. A former local official, she has served on the Lincoln County Commission and the Oregon Water Resources Commission, the Governor's Water Enhancement Board, the Cascades West Council of Governments and on the executive board of the Oregon Coastal Zone Management Association.
LCDC is made up of unpaid citizen volunteers appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate to serve four-year terms. Senate hearings on the appointments are scheduled for Wednesday, November 14 at 1 p.m. in Room HR B in the Capitol building. If approved by the full Senate on November 15, the new members will begin their terms of service on Jan. 1, 2002.
