Portland Developer Nominated to Serve on LCDC for a Four-Year Term

PORTLAND, OR-Confirmation hearings for the governor's nominations--two incumbents and two new people including one real estate developer--will be held on November 14.

PORTLAND, OR-Four people, two incumbents and two would-be new members, were nominated by Gov. John Kitzhaber to the State Senate last week for appointment to the seven-member state Land Conservation and Development Commission. The two incumbent commissioners, Gary Harris of Medford and Gussie McRobert of Gresham, have served on the commission since 1996. If confirmed, this would be the second and last term in office for the two incumbents, since Oregon law does not allow commissioners to serve more than two consecutive terms.

One of two new nominees, Dennis L. Derby is a real estate developer and builder. If confirmed, he would represent the Metro area. He is owner and president of Portland-based Double D Development Inc. and is a past president of the Home Builders Association of Metro Portland. He is a member of the Business Advisory Committee for Metro’s 2040 Plan and past chairman of the Portland Street of Dream.
