TROY, MI-Four commercial real estate companies have been asked to bid on a proposal to create a market viability study for the construction of a 125,000-sf conference center on the city’s Civic Center site at Big Beaver Road and I-75. The city wants a conference center on the site, with a performing arts theater inside, as well as an adjoining hotel and residential development.

The land, across from the city hall, is now vacant. Plans to build a Michigan Youth Theater and an IMAX theater on the property failed this year, after Mayor Matt Pryor, who opposed the project, was elected.

The city is now sending a request for proposals to Hotel Investment Services of Troy, The Spencer Group of Plymouth, Hospitality Advisors of Ann Arbor and Acquest Realty Advisors Inc. of Bloomfield Hills.
