One-Mil-SF Manufacturing Plant Opens in Mexico

PHOENIX-Kitchell Contractors' Mexican subsidiary wraps up a one million-sf first phase for a maquiladora in Baja California and starts overseeing a second phase. The project is for a Thomson multimedia TV picture tube production plant.

PHOENIX-A Phoenix-based general contractor and developer has completed work as construction manager on the first phase of a one million-sf manufacturing and assembly plant in Mexico.

Kitchell Mexico, a subsidiary of Phoenix-based Kitchell Contractors, handled the job for Thomson multimedia in Mexicali, Baja California. Mexicali, Baja’s capital, is situated just south of the US-Mexico border in the “Maquila” area of the border, where non-Mexican companies have flocked to develop manufacturing and assembly plants.

Thomson will use the location to assemble large screen color television picture tubes. Thomson multimedia provides a wide range of technologies, systems, finished products and services to consumers and professionals of the entertainment and media industries.
