Manchester Residential Scheme Goes Green With Terry Farrell Eco-Tower

MANCHESTER-Is it just a gimmick? Taylor Woodrow plans a benchmark eco-friendly building for its massive Macintosh Village homes and shopping scheme at the southern approach to Manchester city centre.

MANCHESTER-Housing and property group Taylor Woodrow has submitted a planning application to develop a ‘green building’ as part of Macintosh Village, a £130 million ($185 million) mixed-use scheme in Manchester city centre’s Southern Gateway.

Designed by top architect Terry Farrell & Partners, the proposed building will occupy a triangular site overlooking the River Medlock. It will contain 32 private residential units, a 120 place pre-school nursery already pre-let to Kids Unlimited and a doctors’ surgery. The 11-storey cylindrical design is expected to incorporate a number of eco-friendly features covering both the construction and the operation of the building.
