ARLINGTON, VA-KSI Services begins work on a 190-unit apartment complex on the site of the Washington, DC area’s now-closed Pentagon City Hospital. The $30-million project of luxury apartment units will be ready to receive residents by year-end 2002.
Next month, construction workers are scheduled to demolish the former hospital building, which closed in 1999. The facility’s 350-space parking structure will remain, and the new Metropolitan at Arlington apartment community will be constructed around it. KSI had to get approval from the Arlington County Board to have the area re-zoned for residential use. “[We are] taking an abandoned property and recycling it for an attractive and needed residential use,” says Richard Knapp, KSI’s Senior Vice President.
