LONDON-Developer St George has secured the first two occupiers for its 32-acre Imperial Wharf scheme in Chelsea, London SW10. Marks & Spencer is to occupy an 18,000-sf foodstore, and Oxford Hotel Ventures is to develop a seven-storey 175-room hotel overlooking the river Thames.

The former gasworks site is being redeveloped by St George in one of the largest urban regeneration projects seen in London. Planning consent has been granted for 1,665 new homes plus 235,000 sf of commercial space. In addition to the hotel and foodstore, the scheme will include 140,000 sf of office space; 43,000 sf of mixed retail and restaurant space and a 34,000-sf health and fitness club.
