Lamendola, 57, joined The St. Paul in 1998 as a result of the company's merger with USF&G, where he had worked since 1992, and was instrumental in building the company's surety operation. The St. Paul Cos. provides commercial property-liability insurance and non-life reinsurance worldwide. The St. Paul reported 2000 revenue fromcontinuing operations of $8 billion, total assets of $35.5 billion, and is ranked No. 222 on the Fortune 500 list of largest US companies.
