"Like many companies in the country, the slowdown in the economy has made us adapt to revenue expectations," John Vincenzo, director of corporate communications for Genuity, tells GlobeSt.com. Genuity has three locations in Massachusetts, with its headquarters here and facilities in Burlington and Cambridge. Vincenzo says that what will happen to these facilities has "not yet been determined. We can't say definitively yes or no if the facilities will be impacted."

The company employs 2,400 people in this state, and also has locations across the country--with its other main centers of operations in Texas, California and Maryland. Vincenzo says that it is unclear where the layoffs will hit. "We are not breaking it out by specific location," he notes. According to a released statement, the majority of the layoffs will take place in this quarter with the rest taking place in Q1 of next year.
