The space is at 2029 Century Park East. The law firm of Katten Muchin Zavis will sublet the space from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld for nine years.
Bob Zelken of Jones Lang LaSalle represented Katten Muchin in the transaction. Mike Catalano of Julien J. Studley represented Akin Gump.
The building is one of the familiar twin towers that anchor one end of the giant Century City development. The other end includes the Shubert Theater and the rest of the ABC Entertainment Center.
In August, developer Trammell Crow Co.—which manages the entertainment center for its owner, institutional advisor J.P. Morgan Fleming Asset Management—announced plans to raze the Shubert and the rest of the outdated entertainment center to make way for $280 million of new office towers and retail space. Tentatively called 2000 Avenue of the Stars, the project will have about 700,000 sf of new office space and about 50,000 sf of retail.
The 2029 and neighboring 2049 towers will not be affected by Trammell Crow's plans.
