Vought Closing 371,591 SF Aircraft Plant

PERRY, GA-The manufacturer is consolidating its Southeast operations and transferring the Perry work to its Stuart, FL location. Perry is 100 miles south of Downtown Atlanta.

PERRY, GA-In a Southeast consolidation move, Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. is closing its 371,591 sf plant 100 miles south of Downtown Atlanta and relocating to its Stuart, FL location. The company manufactures parts for commercial aircraft.

“Regrettably, the dramatic downturn in the commercial air transport industry impacts our operations,” Gordon Williams Vought’s president and CEO, says in a prepared statement. “The rapid decline in business has reached a point where it is no longer financially feasible for us to operate the Perry site.”

Williams expects the transfer should be complete by yearend 2002. Vought does not anticipate any work delays due to this consolidation.
