Owners and operators Simon Property Group of Indianapolis have leased the 86-store mall to full capacity. The $100 million complex is anchored by Hecht's and Sears, and is also home to retail outlets Barnes & Noble, Bed, Bath and Beyond, and Old Navy. Simon Property--one the largest mall owners in the country--purchased the land in 1995 and began constructing the mall in the summer of 2000. The company opened Maryland's Ann Arundel Mills last year. Commenting on Simon Property's third quarter growth, CEO David Simon says the REIT is "pleased that in these most difficult economic times, [Simon Property Group] was able to deliver solid operating performance and earnings growth for our shareholders."
