Museum Place South is a 278,000-square-foot mixed-use complex that will cover an entire city block. It will include two underground floors of parking, a 40,000-sf Safeway store; 128 loft-style apartments in a six-story tower and 12 two-story townhouses. The project will be developed on the block surrounded by 10th and 11th avenues and Jefferson and Columbia streets.

The existing YWCA will be renovated and expanded to 71,000 sf on seven floors. Twenty-five transitional housing units will be added along with a new entrance and lobby, new elevators, new windows and a new fitness center.The pre-bid conference will be at the Portland Police Bureau's Northeast Precinct Conference Room, 449 N.E. Emerson St., from 6 to 7 p.m. One of the goals of the public-private projects is to recruit women and minority-owned and emerging businesses for subcontract work.
