VANCOUVER, WA-Several months after visiting the Vancouver Barracks, the McMenamin brothers have opted to pass on the opportunity to redevelop the 16-building western portion of the compound into a signature eat, drink and sleep developments like Edgefield in Troutdale. According to published reports, Mike and Brian McMenamin say the 16-building project is simply too big for its plans right now, but are not ruling out use of a smaller portion of the facility for a McMenamin restaurant sometime in the future.

Last fall, the 16-building western portion of the compound was transferred from the U.S. Army to the City of Vancouver. E.D. Hovee & Co., a Vancouver market feasibility company, is now studying possible uses for the site with Portland design firm SERA Architects.
