At the same time, the existing store at 625 West Central Entrance will close. The new 27,500-sf store will have 140 employees, and will also offer a music department with more than 25,000 compact discs, video and DVD titles, and provide listening stations for customers to preview selected recordings. The store will also feature a Barnes &Noble Cafe, a classic bistro that serves Starbucks coffee, the teas of The Republic of Tea, cold drinks and a sandwiches and desserts. The new bookstore willcarry a children's section.

The New York-based retailer has 569 Barnes & Noble and 331 B. Dalton bookstores, while Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group owns and operates 797,000-sfMiller Hill Mall, the largest in Duluth.
