NEW YORK CITY-US Labor Secretary Elaine Chao and two of the city's most influential construction association leaders along with FDNY and local government officials will meet Tuesday at noon to sign an historic agreement on worker safety at the World Trade Center site.

NEW YORK CITY-The city’s top construction industry labor and management representatives will join US Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao and other local officials for Tuesday’s signing of the World Trade Center Emergency Project Partnership Agreement.

Major players at tomorrow’s noon signing ceremony at the Sheraton New York Hotel will include Chao, Building and Construction Trades Council president Edward J. Malloy and Building Trades Employers Association president and CEO Louis Coletti.

The agreement has been drafted as a means of preventing occupational-related fatalities and serious injuries and illnesses among participants in the Ground Zero cleanup. It calls for the partners to exercise leadership in preventing accidents at the World Trade Center recovery site. The ceremony will be part of the Construction Industry Partnership’s annual Safety Conference.
