Trammell Crow Residential began developing the apartment property for $19 million in 1998, marking the company's first entry into the Athens/Clarke County market. In a statement at the time, Michael McGwier of the company's Atlanta office explained that "our market research shows there is clear need for an apartment community that offers the amenities, lifestyles, convenience and technology so popular among today's professional business class."
