Didion's appointment will become effective in January. GenCorp makes components for the aerospace, defense, automotive and pharmaceutical industries.
GenCorp's headquarters sits on a 13,000-acre parcel the company owns southwest of Folsom, in Northern California. Didion's arrival is expected to boost GenCorp's efforts to one day develop at least some of the land.
GenCorp looks forward "to the knowledge and experience [Didion] brings in areas so relevant to our strategy to evolve our real estate holdings and activities into a viable business for the corporation," says Bob Wolfe, GenCorp's chairman and CEO.
When Didion took the reigns at LA-based CB Richard Ellis in 1986, the brokerage firm had about $400 million in annual revenue. He stepped down as chairman earlier this year after helping to grow the company into a global real estate services giant with annual revenue of more than $1 billion.
