The project is to rise on the center's existing 12-acre site at 6461 El Apajo Road in Rancho Santa Fe.

The project, to be built in phases, will encompass seven major clusters of buildings in a campus-like setting totaling approximately 158,000 sf, including an equine hospital, a veterinary specialty hospital, an adoption center, therapy facilities, education buildings and administrative buildings.

Richard Salpietra, project consultant for Helen Woodward Animal Center, is overseeing the project.

"The new Helen Woodward Animal Center will be a showcase of advanced animal care and the leading educational center of its type worldwide," says Robert L. Noble, CEO and design principal for Tucker Sadler Noble Castro Architects, the firm selected for the project.

The design team includes Robert L. Noble of Tucker Sadler Noble Castro Architects, with Nozar Ravanbach as project designer. GEM Engineering is the mechanical engineer. Stuart White Design is the signage and way finding designer.
