The design, by BDP, has been adapted to meet tight restrictions on development close to the airport. Land to a distance of 300 metres from Linate cannot be built on above ground level; and beyond this line building heights are restricted to less than 6m. BDP's response to these constraints is an elliptical two-level shopping mall, where the lower level is sunk into a 'crater' and covered by a roof garden with terraces and fountains. The scheme will be linked into Linate airport's departure level via a footbridge.

Construction is programmed to start in April 2003 with completion in December 2004.
