560 Acres Eyes As National Cemetery Site

HOLLY TOWNSHIP, MI-A large site here has been selected by the Veterans Administration as a burial site. Five-acre agricultural zoning was too restrictive for other development, including a multifamily proposal.

HOLLY TOWNSHIP, MI-The National Cemetery Administration has chosen a 560-acre site here for a new veterans’ cemetery. A large single- and multifamily residential development had been proposed for that property.

President George W. Bush’s 2002 budget includes $18 million for land purchases for new cemeteries in the vicinity of Detroit, Pittsburgh and Sacramento, CA.

Now, Veteran’s Administration officials have said they would like to use the Holly property for the Detroit area cemetery after many other properties in the area were investigated.
