Computer Associates, a technology firm, relocated from San Rafael to its new space last month. The Golden Gate Plaza is located at 101 Roland Way, and its tenants include Environ and Sonic Solutions.
Basin Street Properties, a commercial and mixed-use property developer, manages the building on behalf of Principal Financial, LLC, a co-investment of Principal Capital Real Estate Investors and an offshore advisory client.
"There are several contributing factors to Computer Associates' decision to relocate to the Golden Gate Plaza," stated Scott Stranzl, vice president of Basin Street Properties. "The general economics of the area are obviously attractive. But above and beyond that, this building sits on the same power grid as the new hospital, offering Computer Associates an added sense of business operations security during the energy crisis."
According to Basin Street Properties, the threat of rolling blackouts has been a very real problem for many businesses, especially those in the technology arena. The Plaza was recently shifted from grid 10 to grid 50, the same grid as the Novato Community Hospital, which opened last May.
David Jonas of BT Commercial and Hayden Ongaro of Orion Partners represented Computer Associates, while Basin Street Properties handled the deal for Principal Financial.
