US Dept. of Housing and Urban Development representative Janet Barry tells GlobeSt.com that while she has not as yet seen the proposal or permit application, because the developer is not applying for a special permit he must present his proposal to the town's Board of Appeals, which will then submit the project to her office for review.

The 11 buildings now contain 49 units spread out over approximately 72,000 square feet. The Zoning Board of Appeals will decide how and if the new plan would better fit the property. Demolition is slated to begin early in 2002 with the entire project estimated to take up to two years.

Brasco tells Globest.com that tenants currently residing in the rental units have been given 14 months notice to find other accommodations as well as "up to three months rent" to long-term tenants. The developer says he plans to offer 5% of the new units to Municipal workers including police and fire department workers and teachers. In addition, he says he will assist displaced tenants looking for rental housing in the Waltham area.
