Stadium Plans Seek To Save Twins

MINNEAPOLIS-A variety of plans and financing schemes, involving $300-million-plus stadiums, are proposed by the mayors of Minneapolis and St. Paul, as well as state legislators and local Congressmen.

MINNEAPOLIS-A new task force to look at building a new stadium for the Minnesota Twins — as well as considering one for the Minnesota Vikings and University of Minnesota Gophers football teams — is considering a flurry of proposals. On the top of the agenda is a viable ballpark for the Twins to avert the team’s elimination, now under consideration by Major League Baseball’s owners.

Although the owners have not said the Twins would be eliminated, they are a top candidate because of unsuccessful efforts by team owner to get public support for a new stadium.The 18-member panel is made up of legislators, citizens and administration officials.
