The MBTA held 12 acres that would have fit into the developer's plans and in exchange, SeaChain would give the MBTA a 13-acre parcel that it owns nearby and build a parking lot on that property. Unions who were seeking an agreement that all construction would be done by union employees held up the land swap deal. They enlisted the aid of legislators sympathetic to their cause. As of mid- November a deal between the legislators seemed to have been worked out to allow the swap. The developer is planning on constructing approximately 500 residential units on the site as well as office and some retail space.
