The deal, orchestrated by Dave Hagglund of CB Richard Ellis¹s San Diego Central office, calls for construction of a store that will open in April.
While other retailers are cutting back on their expansion plans, Smart & Final Stores Corp. is focusing on increasing its store count by approximately 15 to 20 stores next year. Jeff Moore, senior vice president with CB Richard Ellis Retail Services in Anaheim, says the chain has opened, or is in the process of opening, eight stores in Central and Southern California by the end of the year or early 2002.
Planned, or recently opened store sites, include Fresno, Bakersfield, Irvine, Santa Ana, Pasadena, Gardena and Chino.
