The City Council has voted to let Trimark Pacific Homes step up construction prior to completion of a portion of state Route 125. Mayor Shirley Horton and Councilman Jerry Rindone voted against the request, which passed by a vote of 3-2.

The developer will be allowed to build more commercial buildings and homes once Olympic Parkway is complete between Interstate 805 and Hunte Parkway next fall. The development will go from 675 to 892 dwellings, including multifamily projects.

City officials said a 1999 traffic study of East H Street between Interstate 805 and Southwestern College showed that portion of the east-west roadway could handle additional traffic when Olympic Parkway was open.
