Housey Pharmaceuticals, has announced plans to expand its office and research laboratory space in Southfield. Instead of locating in North Carolina's Research Triangle, Housey decided to locate its $4.1-million research laboratory facility in the Detroit Region based on the area's sizable, well-trained workforce in the medical sciences.

President and CEO Dr. Gerard Housey says the Midwestern work ethic and the area's "healthy year-round, family-oriented lifestyle," were also deciding factors. Housey will add 88 jobs when the expansion is completed.
