Office, Industrial Users Flock to Michigan

DETROIT-Three projects worth $65 million are coming to the area, the Detroit Chamber of Commerce reports. The largest is Recticel's 260,000-sf, $36-million facility in Independence Township, MI.

DETROIT-The Detroit Chamber of Commerce has resumed its “fast facts” about new projects in the Detroit Metropolitan Area. Nexiq Technology Inc., a developer of telematics devices for commercial trucks, plans to move its corporate headquarters to Sterling Heights from Manchester, NH, with a 32,000-sf headquarters housing 65 employees.

Housey Pharmaceuticals, has announced plans to expand its office and research laboratory space in Southfield. Instead of locating in North Carolina’s Research Triangle, Housey decided to locate its $4.1-million research laboratory facility in the Detroit Region based on the area’s sizable, well-trained workforce in the medical sciences.

President and CEO Dr. Gerard Housey says the Midwestern work ethic and the area’s “healthy year-round, family-oriented lifestyle,” were also deciding factors. Housey will add 88 jobs when the expansion is completed.
