When the project is completed this spring, eight retail spaces will occupy the first floor, and 16 spacious apartments will be located upstairs.

The project is one of several being undertaken by the Downtown Redevelopment Agency, which was created in 1984 to revitalize 540 acres that comprises Downtown businesses and other nearby commercial and residential areas. So far, nearly $49 million has been spent on publicly-funded projects such as the Arcade Theatre and Patio de Leon courtyard renovations.
