Border's, Office Depot Lead Way to Stapleton

DENVER-Four retailers place outlets in the northeast submarket at the 740,000-sf Quebec Square Retail Center, part of the of the $4-billion redevelopment of Stapleton International Airport.

DENVER-Border’s Books, Just For Feet, Linen N’Things and Office Depot are the latest tenants to sign on at the Quebec Square Retail Center being built on the western edge of the former Stapleton International Airport. The Border’s Books and Just For Feet outlets are the chains’ first in the northeast Denver area.

The new arrivals join Home Depot, Super Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club in the 740,000-sf retail center that will open next summer at East 35th Avenue and Quebec Street. With the latest deals, Quebec Square at Stapleton is 75% leased or sold, says John Lehigh, chief executive officer of Forest City Stapleton. Just for Feet will take 14,000 sf and Borders will lease 23,000 sf.

“Quebec Square is a regional retail center with easy access to interstate highways that include I-70 and I-270, but it also features unique pedestrian amenities designed to attract customers who walk from nearby neighborhoods and adjacent employers such as the United Air Lines Flight Training Center and the Quebec Street hotels that once served the former airport,” says Lehigh, whose firm is developer of the $4-billion Stapleton project. “Placing retail within convenient pedestrian access of employment centers and residential neighborhoods is a key characteristic of the mixed-use neighborhoods we are now building at Stapleton.”
