MINNEAPOLIS-General Mills' recently approved acquisition of Pillsbury is raising big questions in Downtown Minneapolis. The merger between the two giant Minnesota food companies recently passed muster with antitrust regulators.

While General Mills has a large campus with room for expansion in Golden Valley, Pillsbury occupies more than 500,000 sf of space at the Pillsbury Center in Downtown Minneapolis at 200 S. 6th St.

One indication that Pillsbury would be shedding some of that space was a lease deal with Fredrikson & Byron, a large Minneapolis law firm, in which it would take 130,000 sf on the top six floors of the building in July 2002, according to United Properties, the Bloomington-based commercial real estate firm.

The law firm says its move involves 400 employees.
